Workflow (Defined)

RSS
Within the context of SharePoint, a workflow is a systematic way of creating, reviewing, approving and storing information within the SharePoint content management system. Workflows are the realization/execution of well defined business processes with sequenced steps and resources.

What distinguishes a business process from a workflow is the realization of a business process. In this sense business processes are conceptual, while a workflow is an instance of work that occurs under the guidance of a defined process. business process management (bpm) uses data garnered from the executioin of workflows (adhering to a process) to determine cycle times, effectiveness, throughput, etc., and to optimize the processes through changes in the workflows.

SPS Workflow provides to its clients a model based SharePoint workflow designer to both define the business process and implement the associated workflows.
