It was apparent from the many questions and concerns expressed at the educational and networking event of the Detroit Chapter of Financial Executives International, that many of the attendee’s companies are not well positioned to make their enterprises process driven.  And while many have had good success with ERP, they recognize the need for many more adjunct processes and were very impressed with the SharePoint Workflow concepts that I introduced to them.

The example of tying the budget process to the CapEx process with notifications when CapEx amounts exceed budgeted amounts seemed to strike a chord.  This wasn’t surprising as it illustrates a great application of workflow that many companies are not taking advantage of.  Many were also impressed by the very aggressive pricing of the workflow solution, and the whole concept of the SharePoint Workflow Factory, since they have experienced too many internal failures in getting solutions deployed.

Many thanks go to Sally Brandtneris and Sharon Kimble for putting together this very enjoyable event.
